About Chaukhambha 

Chaukhambha is a heritage in Ayurveda, passed down from generation to generation ever since the year 1892. The name has progressed into something of a brand in itself, with scholars of Ayurveda preferring the books published by Chaukhambha due to our promise of quality.

Chaukhambha Orientalia is an organization dedicated towards the enrichment of Ayurvedic literature in the world. We thrive to pick the best authors and scholars from around the sub-continent to collaborate their efforts towards building a community that is rich with wisdom, knowledge, and culture. We have, over the years, amassed 450+ publications (book titles) under our name and continue to grow at a rapid pace. We aim to become better at what we do by introducing more subject related textbooks to promote better knowledge among the students of This can be done by diversifying traditional approach to fit a more contemporary methodology, i.e., ensuring that each book we publish goes through a rigorous scrutiny and survey in order to understand the demands and needs of the field.

With our aim to publish set among the clouds, we had to make sure that whatever we publish reaches you. In our initiative to become closer to you, we have set up an office in Bangalore, Karnataka to operate as your source of Ayurvedic books and, in doing so, have become the first Chaukhambha to set foot in the south. This will allow us to serve you better and, most of all, quicker. Upgrading with the world, we also take pride in introducing to you this website – a testament that we shan’t rest until Ayurveda is restored to its former glory.

As the World moves forward, so must Ayurveda, because at the end of the day, it is not only Chaukhambha’s, but India’s heritage.
