Why routine matters

Many people who get migraines notice a pattern. A late night, a skipped meal, a long afternoon in the sun or a stressful week often comes before the headache. Ayurveda looks at the whole day, not only at the pain. It links migraine-type headaches mainly with Pitta, the dosha connected with heat, sharpness and intensity, and with an unsettled routine.

This guide covers habits that are often discussed in Ayurvedic care for people who are prone to migraine, and explains where an Ayurvedic tablet may fit. It is general information. It cannot tell you why you get headaches, and it does not replace a doctor.

Keep sleep steady

Going to bed and waking at similar times each day is one of the simplest changes to try. Many people find that sleeping in on weekends or sleeping very little during a busy week sets off a headache. Aim for a calm last hour before bed, with less screen time and no heavy meal.

If you often wake up with a headache or snore loudly, mention it to your doctor, because sleep problems can have their own causes.

Eat on time and eat light

Ayurveda treats long gaps between meals as a strain on Pitta. Regular, freshly cooked meals are the usual advice. Do not skip breakfast, and do not wait many hours between lunch and dinner.

Many people also cut back on very spicy, sour, fermented and fried food, and on too much tea or coffee. Fresh fruit, vegetables, rice, dal and moderate ghee are common choices. Notice your own reactions, because food triggers differ from person to person.

Stay cool and drink enough water

Heat, bright light and dehydration are some of the triggers people report most often. In hot weather, carry water, cover your head in strong sun and rest in the shade. Cooling foods such as cucumber, coconut water and seasonal fruit are part of traditional Pitta care.

Gentle practices such as slow breathing, a short walk and a few minutes of quiet in the evening help many people handle stress, another common trigger.

Keep a simple headache diary

For a few weeks, write down the date, the time the headache started, what you ate, how you slept, the weather and your stress level. This helps you and your physician see patterns, and it makes it easier to decide what to avoid. Bring the diary to your appointment.

Where an Ayurvedic tablet may fit

Migraref is an Ayurvedic proprietary tablet that helps support migraine management and dosha balance. The pack lists four classical preparations: Sirsuladi Vajra Ras, Saptamrut Loh, Sutshekar Ras and Pathyadi Kwath, a herbal decoction that contains Pathya, Lodhra and Chandana. These are traditionally used for Pitta-related complaints and for their cooling quality. One bottle holds 60 tablets. Dosage and pack details are on the product page and the pack label.

A tablet works best alongside the habits above, not in place of them. If you are already taking prescribed medicines for migraine, do not stop them. Ask your physician before adding anything new.

Making the most of your visit

Before you start Migraref, write down the medicines and supplements you already take, any allergies, and any conditions you have been told about. Ask your physician three things: whether Migraref suits you, how long to use it, and which signs mean you should stop and call. Bring the pack so the ingredient list can be read together. Ayurvedic medicines are meant to fit into your overall care, and your physician can adjust the plan if your needs change.

Habits matter more than any single product. Pick one or two changes from this guide, keep them for a few weeks and see how you feel. Small, steady changes are easier to keep than a long list.

When to see a doctor

Headaches that are new, sudden or unusually severe need prompt medical attention. So do headaches that come with weakness, loss of vision, confusion, fever, a stiff neck or a head injury. Migraine can have causes that need tests. If your headaches are getting more frequent, talk to a doctor soon.

These are Ayurvedic proprietary medicines for sale in India. Use them only under medical supervision. Read the pack label and talk to your physician before you start, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, have a long-term condition or take other medicines. This guide is general information and does not replace medical advice. Shipping across India is free, and you can see all Chaukhambha Healthcare medicines on our Medicines page.
